Nasal strips in the rain: prepare for a wet run

BreathersBliss Lab · Practical guide

Rain does not have to change your plans for an easy run, but it changes the conditions around an adhesive. Raindrops, sweat and a sleeve wiping across your face all matter. A good BreathersBliss routine starts before you step outside, so the strip can remain a small part of your preparation rather than something you keep adjusting.

At a glance

Apply under cover to fully dry skin before warming up. Reduce rubbing and keep any spare strip dry. An adhesive designed for sport is not a guarantee of waterproof performance.

01

Rain, sweat and rubbing affect the adhesive differently

A strip applied to dry skin and later exposed to a few drops starts in a different position from one stuck onto an already wet nose. Initial contact matters, as do repeated movements during a run. A sleeve, towel or glasses frame can catch an edge and begin lifting it.

BreathersBliss Intense nasal strips are designed for reinforced adhesion during sport. They support the sides of the nasal opening from outside, without medication or an insert inside your nostrils. Their purpose is local nasal comfort. Hold varies with skin, application and conditions; neither a fixed number of hours in rain nor reliable immersion can be promised.

02

Apply indoors, then check your running kit

Prepare at home or somewhere sheltered. Clean the nose, dry it completely and keep oily residue away from the adhesive area. Follow the BreathersBliss application guide, pressing the ends without repeatedly touching the adhesive. Do this before warming up, not once your face is already damp.

Put on your glasses and cap if you use them. Check that neither pushes against the strip as you smile or turn your head. A peak may keep some drops off your face; it does not make the strip waterproof. Do not move the strip away from its correct position just to shelter it beneath equipment. Start with a short familiar loop before relying on the setup for a long outing.

03

During the run, dab rather than wipe across the strip

If you need to dry your face, gently dab around the nose with a clean, dry section of fabric, without pulling at the strip’s edges. Avoid checking adhesion with your fingers every few minutes, since handling can undermine the contact you are trying to protect. Breathe naturally and allow your mouth to contribute as effort rises.

If the strip comes loose or becomes uncomfortable, stop somewhere safe to remove it. Do not add glue or layer another strip over it. To replace it, wait until you can clean and dry your skin under cover. A fresh strip applied to a wet nose may not establish useful adhesion. Carry spares protected from water; if proper application is not possible, continue without a strip only if you feel comfortable doing so.

04

Make wet-weather testing part of your routine

On early runs, assess comfort, rubbing points and hold rather than your finishing time. An agreeable nasal sensation does not demonstrate a performance gain. Before a long event, test the combination of strip, glasses and clothing on comparable training runs. The guide to keeping strips in place helps you investigate recurring lifting.

Afterwards, remove gently as instructed and leave the skin clean. Intense is single-use: removing, rinsing or drying a strip does not make it reusable. Stop using it if irritation occurs. A pouch contains 30 fresh strips for your sessions and trials. Keep route safety separate from adhesive questions: visibility, slippery surfaces and weather warnings determine whether a run is sensible. A light shower is not the same as a thunderstorm, and a nasal accessory changes none of those priorities.

Frequently asked questions

Can a nasal strip stay on in the rain?

It may, but hold depends on skin, application, rubbing and water exposure. Apply to dry skin and begin with a short test run.

Can I apply BreathersBliss to a wet nose?

Use clean, fully dry skin to establish adhesive contact. If your face is already damp, wait until you can prepare it under cover.

Is Intense waterproof for swimming?

Sport-focused adhesion does not establish waterproof or immersion performance. A successful rainy run is not evidence that it is suitable for swimming.

What if an edge lifts while running?

Avoid pulling or repeatedly handling it. If it becomes loose or uncomfortable, remove safely and replace only after preparing dry skin.

Can I dry the same strip and put it back on?

No. Intense is single-use. Choose a fresh strip rather than reattaching one you have removed.
